CARMIM - Cooperativa Agrícola de Reguengos de Monsaraz - was created in 1971 by a group of 60 wine-growers aiming to produce and sell wine from the grapes of a group of wine-growers from the region.
Presently with approximately 850 members, to which correspond 3,600 hectares of vineyard, CARMIM has produced over the years quality wines and olive oils, which became synonym of excellence. The company leads the domestic market in the quality wine segment.
CARMIM has currently about 900 members and produces 74 wine references: from whites to reds, young and reserve, liqueur, rosé and sparkling wines.
CARMIM also produces marc brandy and olive oil of recognized quality.
CARMIM's wines have been awarded with more than 600 awards in various national and international competitions.
The quality of the raw material, from a region of designation of origin, is one of the assets of this Cooperative, along with the human capital and an agro-industrial facility of 8 hectares, including the wineries, one for regional wines and another one for DOC wines, as well as the bottling line, equipped with cutting-edge technology. Here, there's the capacity to produce wine from 1,500,000 kilos of grapes per day, bottle 21,000 bottles per hour and store up to 33 million litres. CARMIM is the largest winery in Alentejo and one of the largest in the country, as well as one of the main driving forces behind the economic and social development of the region, ensuring the well-being and quality of life of the members and respective families.
Carmim has some of the most advanced technologies of the Iberian Peninsula regarding production and the bottling of wine, and it's a winery of excellence in Portugal.
The CARMIM Group invests in the national market with the company Monsaraz Vinhos S.A., responsible for all the marketing and distribution through the Horeca channel, and the company ENOFORUM is responsible for the CARMIM Group exports, currently exporting to more than 34 countries. The two companies, along with CARMIM, constitute the CARMIM Group.
A game of senses that becomes stronger in Alentejo. It encompasses traditions as old as the city walls which protect Monsaraz. In the middle of the blue and white houses stands the Torre de Menagem (castle keep). From the summit, the locals have always seen the plains as their greatest wealth. The vineyards grow there, surrounding the medieval village that made them famous. And it's because of the wine that more and more people are increasingly fascinated by the region and set out to discover it. In this land of Kings nectars worthy of emperors are produced every year.
Among CARMIM's wine brands are Monsaraz Premium, Espumante Monsaraz, Garrafeira dos Sócios, Bom Juiz, Régia Colheita, Monsaraz Millennium, Monsaraz, Reguengos, Terras d’el Rei and Olaria. There are also the single variety Monsaraz wines – Gouveio, Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah – as well as the Marc Brandy Terras d’el Rei, the Reguengos Licoroso, the Marc Brandy Vínica Velha and CARMIM's forty anniversary edition Vinho Licoroso (Liqueur Wine). In addition, CARMIM also produces quality olive oil on the Terras d'el Rei and Monsaraz ranges.
